Basic traffic course
Basic traffic course is a mandatory course for everyone who wants to get a driving license for a car. The course provides basic knowledge about traffic and traffic safety, and should help reduce the number of traffic accidents.

Certificate you get after completing the course
After completing the course, you will receive a certificate that you have completed the basic traffic course. This certificate is valid for three years, and you must have it before you can start the actual driving training.
Where can you take a basic traffic course?
Basic traffic courses are offered by most traffic schools in Norway. You can also take the course at certain upper secondary schools and other approved course centres. It is important to choose an approved traffic school or course center to be sure that the course meets the requirements of the Norwegian Road Administration.
